A brief rule set for the use of the Jugger chain in Belegarth.

See Jugger for Belegarth.

Belegarth rule additions:

Chain construction

  • Max length (ball + chain + handle) of 320cm
  • Ball must be at least 20cm in diameter and be padded as a striking surface
  • Chain must be fully padded as incidental, and padding must be prevented from slipping out of position (e.g. sewn into the chain)
  • Handle can be rigid, and must pass as a pommel (2in template rule)
    • Anything longer than 20cm on the handle (towards the chain) must also be incidentally padded

Ideas:

  • No rigid objects in ball (entirely foam)
  • Yellow cover on ball (match javelins)
  • Minimum radius for chain (to prevent excessive wrapping)
  • Chain only required to be incidentally padded x amount

Chain gameplay

  • Blue damage (light, graze, garb rules apply)
  • Players cannot jerk or yank on a wrapped chain under tension
  • Players are forbidden to pull their chain if it is wrapped around another player and it is forbidden to swing the chain if a weapon is tangled in it. Players must carefully unwrap their chain if it is wrapped around another player
  • One hand must be on the handle of the chain
  • Only hand on the handle counts as hand-on-weapon - a hand manipulating the chain is a valid target
  • Any part of the weapon can be used to block attacks, but must not entrap or entangle the weapon or player
  • Weapons or shields can be used to block chain attacks, but swinging at the chain is discouraged

Ideas:

  • Red damage
  • Red damage but cannot break shields
  • Chains over x length do red damage, otherwise do blue
